 For this weeks work it was about the borders and if we think the borders should open or stay shut.

I really enjoyed this weeks work because it was really fun to do and it had some pretty cool activity's.

What do you think, should the borders stay shut or open? 

Should New Zealand open its borders?

 For This weeks writing we have been set to discuss whether or not NZ should open it's borders. The reasons below are why I think NZ should keep the borders shut.

Firstly I strongly believe that New Zealand should keep it's borders shut so that the virus can slow down. If the borders open then the virus might spread and take a risk of more cases. If you want the borders to open then they open you might already be far away from your family and if the borders open you could be far away from them for an even longer time. 

I think the borders need to stay shut because we could be taking a really big risk if we open them and it could go a very bad way and the virus can spread and heaps of people can get covid-19. Although it might be sad if you are in different countries or different places than your family we still should keep the borders shut because then the virus can go away faster and you can see your family members faster.

I think the borders should still be shut so the virus can slow down faster.

Is Kapa Haka Good For Us?

 Is Kapa Haka Good For Us?

For this weeks writing we have been set to discuss whether or not we think Kapa Haka is good for us. The reasons below are why I think Kapa Haka is good or bad for us.

Firstly I strongly believe that kapa haka is good for us because it is very fun and you get to perform at cool events. When you perform you get to really show your passion. Doing kapa haka can help you become stronger and more powerful. When you are performing you are being role models to all of the other people watching you and it can help you gain your confidence when you are performing. When your performing you are expressing the way you feel about kapa haka.

 

Secondly I think kapa haka is good for us because it has a very cool and unique style to it. When you perform you get to wear awesome uniforms and kapa haka has some amazing actions. Sometimes when you perform you look really strong. Kapa haka means form a line (kapa) and dance (haka). If you are one of the people in the audience you will look at the people performing and see how they are so strong and powerful.

 Are Video Games Good Or Bad?

Are Video games good or bad? For this weeks writing we have been set to discuss whether or not we think video games are good or bad. The reasons below are why I think video games are good or bad.

Firstly I think video games are bad because if your child is playing video games there are some that can cause them to act more aggressive. The video games that can cause aggression is violet games such as shooting games,hunting games,chasing games ETC. If your kid/kids is playing games like this then their behaviour would probably change too because of what type of video game it is. 

Secondly I Think video games are bad because there can be some strangers that can log into someones account and buy things on the video game and they can use your credit cards and your money. Strangers can also create a fake profile and pretend that they are someone else and buy stuff and use your money and that is called a scammer.

Lastly I think video games are bad because if your child plays to much video games they might get addicted to it and their brain might get permanently damaged. Your child might be addicted to video games and it might be hard for them to communicate and make friends. They also might lose track in school. Do you want your child to be good in school?

What is Better Playing Sports or Music?

 What is Better Playing Sports or Music?

What do you think is better, playing sports or music? We have been set to discuss about which we think is better and I strongly believe that sports is better. The reasons below are why I think sports is better.

Playing sports allows you and your team to work together and achieve goals. When you use teamwork it helps you develop respect and kindness. When you are playing sports as a team, it builds a team that works together and they achieve goals that lead them to success. Teamwork makes the dream work.

 Sports keeps you healthy and fit, it also sharpens your memory. Do you want a sharp memory? If you are playing sports or exercising you don't get sick as often as you would if you weren't playing sports or exercising. Did you know if you are playing sports or exercising or if you just do something physical it helps your heart grow strongly. 

Playing sports in a team can teach you as a team to work together and have good sportsmanship. Playing sports can also teach you to be responsible and respectful. It can help you make good decisions that are about life.

I think sports is better and I think you should play a sport or exercise or just do something physical. You could even just go outside. I think you should do something that is here daily.  

Frog Facts Presentation

 For STEAM we went to Whaea Tamzin's area in Kahikatea Hub and we had to make a presentation about frogs. We had to work in groups and create different slides for each and every new idea! We learnt so much facts about frogs and what they do. I really enjoyed making my slide about frogs.

Blue Viper Snakes

Blue Viper Snakes

Blue viper snakes are a small snake and their scientific name is Trimeresurus Insularis. The are found across the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia.

Blue viper snakes come in different shades and colours of blue. There is dark blue, light blue, normal blue and cyan. They also have smooth scales, pink nostrils and a very long tongue.

Blue viper snakes live from 12-18 years and the max is 24 years. Their predators are large mammals and birds. Blue viper snakes predators eat venomous snakes.

Blue vipers are around 2 feet and 61cm in size. They are one of the smallest poisonous snakes in their range.

Blue viper snakes eat a variety of food depending on their size. Vipers prey includes small mammals. birds, lizards and eggs according to A.A Savitzky for Utah state university. When their prey is dead they eat it in a whole.

Pygmy Seahorses

 Pygmy Seahorses

There are seven different species of pygmy seahorses. Pygmy seahorses are 2cm in size being one of the smallest in the world. Their scientific name is Hippocampus Bargibanti. The can be found in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean.

Camouflage is one of pygmy seahorses specialities. They live in sea fan coral that comes in the colours purple and orange. The pygmy seahorses change colours to match the coral and they grow tubercies (bumps) that make them change colours to match the colour of the coral that they first land on.

Pygmy seahorses do a courtship dance to create the baby pygmy seahorses. When they are first born they are dark brown, and they come out of the fathers brood pouch.

Pygmy seahorses eat small crustaceans. And they are a group of crabs, lobsters, shrimps ETC. Their predators are large fish and sharks that live in the very big ocean.

The coral reef is getting destroyed because of so much temperature changing, fishing nets, acidification and more. This is so important because some of the pygmy seahorses live there and it is dying.

The Holiday trip at Samoa

THE HOLIDAY TRIP TO SAMOA

For the weekend me and my family went on a holiday to Samoa and today was our last day in Samoa. We went to the beach and the water was very cold but then it got warmer. Then we hopped out of the water and we went and got some food to eat. 

After me and my siblings finished eating we decided to sun bathe but my little sister wanted to go back in the water but my parents said she needs to rest for a little while until she goes back in the water so she was screaming and throwing a huge fit. But all of us know what our little sister Sophie loves making most is YouTube videos so we started to make one and it was all about our weekend so far in Samoa and our Mum Channelle said "That is a great idea Apricot"  "Why thank you Mother" said Apricot. After we finished making the YouTube video. 

We went back in the water but our parents didn't know so it was kind of risky then after about an hour and a half. 

Me and my siblings got out of the water and went and got our towels from the front desk. Then we went back to where our parents were sitting but they weren't there and after that I panicked but I told my siblings not to panic so after that we started to look everywhere but they were no where to be seen so after we gave up and went back to the room. But when we opened the room door we came to a surprise our parents were asleep on the beds.

About Me

 For this weeks writing it was about identity and I choose to write a description about me.

Me

My name is Lily and my favourite foods are sushi and subway. My favourite fruit is

 strawberry's and I love every animal you could ever think of. The sports that I love the 

most are Rippa rugby, Rugby league and touch. The school that i go to is Papakura

 central school. The colours that I like are yellow,blue,black,white and mint green. My 

dislikes are probably marmite and Vegemite I also dislike the colour pink and purple. The 

people in my family are my Dad,Mum my sisters Forest and Shantae and my two brothers

 Cole and Beau and last of all Me. I also have a cat called Nala and I also have a dog called Cookie. Last of all my favourite subject at school is Art.

How to find the perimeter and area

 We have been learning about how to find the area and the perimeter of a shape.

HOBBY writing T2 week 2

 Step one is the gear that you need first you need a rugby ball and you also need tags.

To play rippa rugby you most likely need an umpire. You should most probably wear shorts and a short sleeved top and you should either wear running shoes or rugby boots. Why rippa rugby is good to play,because it keeps your fitness up and it is a good sport to play with your friends and family and you can spend more time with them while you play.

My Nonsense Creature

 For this weeks writing we had to draw a made up creature and then we had to describe it.

My nonsense creature is mixed with a pig,pineapple,eagle,butterfly,dragon,giraffe and a horse. My nonsense creature's name is Piney. He has a pineapple head with pineapple spikes of hair he also has dragon feet, a giraffe tail, one eagle wing and one butterfly wing. Piney also has a pig nose he also has a smiley mouth with sharp blood teeth. My nonsense creature has a dark brown moustache and he also has cute freckles. Piney also has a cape to act like he is a super creature he also has giraffe tail hands. My nonsense creature has an eye piercing. My nonsense creature walks like a robot,he lives with me in my house and he eats carrots,broccoli and kumra and he hates eating chocolate and lollies but he really likes dark chocolate. Piney's personality is like a kind creature but everyone thinks he is to kind but he just loves himself and he loves me and he is always happy.

I enjoyed doing this weeks writing because I like making up my own creatures.

 For this weeks reading we had to write about what we wanted changed at Papakura Central School.

What would you Change around the school and why?

What I would change at school is the school toilets because they are yucky and gross. How will we get the money? We could fundraise at the school. Who would do it? The people that would do it are builders that have come to our school before and that have built something here. How will they do it? They would probably start by smashing everything down and then they would start the process. When will they do it? They would do it at the start of the year most likely. I want the toilets to be clean. I bet everyone wants the toilets to be clean and I also want there to be little rooms in between each toilet. I think everyone would want their own little room in between every single toilet.   

I enjoyed doing this weeks writing because I like writing about our school.

 For this weeks writing we had to write about space.

One day I was on my computer and I was playing a space game. It was so much fun so I decided that I wanted to find out more about different planets. So I went on my computer and started to search. There was this website and it was to create your own planet. I was really interested so I clicked on it and I named it acto so after I made my planet I went to go and watch tv. When I turned on the TV I went onto the news and the people were saying that there were people in space and they came across a new planet and it looked exactly like the one I made on the website but I said “That couldn’t be MINE!” but then on the news it said the planet was called acto. I was in SHOCK! It was crazy. I couldn’t believe it. I was kind of happy they even said that the planet was made by me then a few months later I was famous.

I enjoyed doing this weeks writing because I like writing about space.

All though it’s cloudy and cold outside, the tree I see is dancing proud like a ballerina.

She moves her branches side to side like she is waving at me.

She catches water drops, and wears them like a crystal bracelet.

Her leaves shaking like your hips when you hula hoop.

Her branches creaked like walking on wooden floorboards in an old creepy 

 house.

I can eat a whole bag of crispy chips while watching my favourite tv show on tv. I wear a big cozy jumper with comfy trackpants. I love to do gymnastics and I also love to cook.
